Wake a computer (Wake-on-LAN)
Switch on a computer that is asleep or off so you can connect to it - how its owner allows it and how you wake it.
Important: Wake-on-LAN works only when your computer and the one you wake are on the same local network (for example the same office), and the sleeping computer's network card and BIOS must allow waking. It cannot wake a computer across the internet.
On the computer to be woken
- Open Settings → Permissions and tick Let viewers wake this computer.
- Optional: list the viewer IDs allowed to wake it under Only these viewer IDs may wake it, one per line. Empty means any viewer who has connected.
- Click Save Settings (on a full install Windows asks for administrator approval).
On your computer
- Connect to that computer once while it is on. ScreenSharePRO saves its network address automatically - there is nothing to type.
- Later, when it is asleep or off, open Saved Hosts (or Quick connect) and click its power button.
- Give it a minute to start, then connect as usual.
Note: A sent signal cannot be confirmed - if the computer does not wake, check the same-network rule and its BIOS settings. Settings → Viewing → Computers you can wake lists the computers you can wake; Forget selected removes one. If the owner turns waking off, their address is forgotten automatically.
