Manage who is connected
Approve people before they get in, see who is watching, switch their keyboard and mouse on or off, switch monitors, and disconnect them.
Ask before anyone connects
With Settings → Permissions → Ask me before anyone connects ticked, someone who enters your ID and password waits until you let them in. The main window comes to the front:
- The tab shows how many people are waiting.
- Who is waiting - their network address, and the name they gave (a name is only what their computer claims, not proof of who they are) - with the seconds left to answer.
- Accept - let them in.
- Cancel - turn them away. Doing nothing also turns them away when the time runs out.
- A connected viewer. The × disconnects them immediately.
Note: People using your unattended password are never asked about, so a computer nobody is sitting at stays reachable. If Ask me before anyone connects is on and nobody is signed in to answer, the person is refused.
The sessions dock
While anyone is connected, a small panel sits at the edge of your screen. Viewers cannot use its switches or buttons - only you can.
- Folded: a tab on the screen edge with the number of viewers. Click to open or close it; drag it up or down, or to the other side of the screen.
- How many are connected (with "● RECORDING" if anyone is recording you), and three switches for everyone, this session only: keyboard, mouse and clipboard (copy, paste and files). A struck-through switch is off.
- Record session - record your own screen to a video. Only with the per-user install; with the full install the background service shares the screen and this button is greyed out.
- Which monitor viewers see (only with more than one). The change is immediate.
- One row per viewer: name, when they started, how long, and keyboard/mouse switches for this viewer only - for example, let one person control while another only watches.
- Disconnect - end this viewer's session.
- Disconnect all (two or more viewers) - asks first.
- The dock's switches start from your Settings and are not saved - next session starts from Settings again.
- A per-viewer switch can only take away: if keyboard is off for the session, it is off for everyone.
- Keyboard permission also covers the viewer's Lock, Restart, Shut down and Resolution commands.
Disconnect someone
- The × on their row in Connected viewers, or Disconnect in the dock - immediately, without asking.
- Disconnect all - everyone at once (asks first).
- Make a new password - disconnects everyone and stops them reconnecting with the old one.
When a viewer records
You are always told: a notification "Session is being recorded", a message in the status bar, and "● RECORDING" in the dock. To stop viewers recording at all, untick Settings → Permissions → Let viewers record or take screenshots.
