Clipboard & Files settings
Copy and paste text, images and files between computers, share text between several remote computers, and keep a history of what you copied.
Copy and paste - text, images and files - between computers.
Open this page
- In the main window, click Settings in the sidebar on the left.
- Click Clipboard & Files in the list on the left of the Settings window - or type a word into Search settings at the top right to find a setting on any page.
- Change what you need, then click Save Settings. Nothing changes until you save; Cancel throws your changes away.
Every setting on this page
| # | Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Share the clipboard and allow file transfer | On | Copy on one computer, paste on the other - text, images and files. Files are sent only when you paste them. This is the starting value; each session can switch it with the Clipboard button on the viewer toolbar (or the host's sessions dock). Both ends must allow it. |
| 2 | Share copied text between remote computers | On | When you view more than one computer at once, text you copy on one of them can be pasted straight into another. Text only - images and files never travel this way. Remember to press Save Settings: closing Settings without saving does not warn you about this one. |
| 3 | Keep clipboard history | On | Remembers the last 25 pieces of text you copied on this computer (including text that came from a remote computer), so you can paste them again from Clipboard History in the sidebar. Stored encrypted for your Windows account. Turning it off deletes the list. Copies that password managers mark as private are never kept. |
| 4 | Ctrl + right-click paste menu | On | Hold Ctrl and right-click anywhere - also over a remote screen - to get a menu of your recent copies; click one to paste it there. Works only while "Keep clipboard history" is on. Remember to press Save Settings: closing without saving does not warn you about this one. |
Good to know
Tip: To stop sharing the clipboard for just one session, click Clipboard on the viewer toolbar instead of changing the setting. It turns red (Clipboard off) and goes back to normal next time.
Note: How copying files works is explained in Copy, paste and file transfer.
