Record a session and take screenshots
Record what you see to an MP4 video and capture screenshots - where they are saved, what is included, and who is told.
Record
- Click Record on the toolbar. Recording starts at once.
- To stop, click Stop recording - or simply disconnect: the file is finished properly when the window closes.
- The title starts with ● REC while recording.
- The button reads Stop recording and turns red.
- The REC badge shows how long you have been recording.
- After a screenshot: "Screenshot saved and copied". Click Open folder to see the file in File Explorer.
| Recording | Screenshot | |
|---|---|---|
| Format | MP4 video (H.264), 30 frames per second, no sound | PNG image, also copied to the clipboard |
| What is in it | The remote screen exactly as you received it - not the toolbar or messages | The current remote picture |
| Saved to | Your Videos\ScreenSharePro folder, or the folder chosen in Settings → Recording & Screenshots | The same folder |
| File name | ScreenSharePro_viewer_date_time_ID.mp4 (time in UTC) | ScreenSharePro_screenshot_date_time_ID.png |
Important: The person whose screen you are recording is always told, with your display name - that notice cannot be turned off. Only record when you have their agreement.
When the buttons are greyed out
The person sharing can forbid recording and screenshots with Settings → Permissions → Let viewers record or take screenshots. The buttons are then disabled, and a recording that was running stops.
Record every session automatically
Settings → Recording & Screenshots → Record every session automatically. When you host, it records the screen you share; when you view, the picture you receive. See Recording settings.
