The viewer window and its toolbar
When you connect, the other computer's screen opens in its own window. Here is every button on its toolbar and how to show, pin or move the toolbar.
Each computer you connect to opens in its own window, so you can have several open at once. The window first sizes itself to the remote screen - pixel for pixel if that fits, otherwise scaled down - and is centred.
Show the toolbar
To give the remote screen all the room, the toolbar starts hidden: you see only a small tab in the middle of the top edge.
- The toolbar tab. Move your pointer to the top edge to show the toolbar for a moment (it hides again shortly after you move away), or click the tab to pin the toolbar so it stays. Drag the tab to the left or right edge to turn the toolbar into a side panel.
Every button
- The title bar: the computer's name and ID, and the connection state - Connected, Reconnecting…, Disconnected. While recording it starts with ● REC.
- Fullscreen - fills the monitor this window is on. See Fullscreen, screen size and resolution.
- Original size / Fit screen - switch between fitting the remote screen to the window and showing it pixel for pixel. The little arrow opens the view options.
- Resolution - change the remote computer's display resolution for this session.
- Screenshot - saves the remote screen as a PNG file and copies it to your clipboard.
- Record - records the session to an MP4 video. See Record a session and take screenshots.
- Clipboard - turns copy and paste (and file transfer) on or off for this session only. Red Clipboard off means nothing is shared.
- Quality - how much bandwidth the picture may use, for this session only. See Picture quality.
- Remote - lock, restart or shut down the remote computer. See Lock, restart or shut down the remote computer.
- Disconnect - ends the session and closes the window.
- Icons only - hides the button labels to make the bar shorter (hover a button to see its name). Click again to bring the labels back.
- Pin / Unpin - keep the toolbar on screen as a strip under the title bar (it never covers the picture), or let it hide until the pointer touches the top edge.
Tip: The toolbar's position, whether it is pinned and whether it shows labels are remembered for next time.
Move the toolbar to the side
- Drag the toolbar tab (or the open toolbar) away from the top edge towards the left or right side of the window.
- Let go: it snaps to the nearer side as a vertical panel with labels. Click its tab to open or close the panel.
- To put it back at the top, drag it to the top edge and let go.
Note: There is no Ctrl+Alt+Del button, no chat and no drag-and-drop file upload: Windows reserves Ctrl+Alt+Del, and files are moved with copy and paste - see Copy, paste and file transfer.
