Getting started

Keep ScreenSharePRO up to date

How updates are found, downloaded and installed, how to check yourself, and how to choose when they install.

A new version, ready to install.
  1. The banner at the top of the main window: the new version, with a progress bar while it downloads. A red edge means the update is required.
  2. Update now / Install now - install it now. If someone is viewing this computer, ScreenSharePRO asks first.
  3. The sidebar: your version and update status. Click the arrows to check now; they spin while checking and turn amber when an update is offered.

Automatic updates

With Settings → General → Install updates automatically on (the default), updates install by themselves - but only while nobody is using the computer (nobody signed in, or the screen locked for 30 minutes) and never while a viewer is connected. Turn it off to choose the moment yourself; an update the server requires is always installed.

Note: A viewer watching a computer that updates sees "The remote computer is installing a ScreenSharePro update" - the picture usually comes back within half a minute.

Tip: The per-user install has no background service, so it never installs updates by itself: you are told when one is ready. You can also always download the latest version from our downloads page.
