Limited control and full control
What the green or amber shield means, what viewers cannot do on a per-user install, and how to enable full control with one administrator approval.
ScreenSharePRO can be installed two ways. The shield next to the version number at the bottom of the sidebar tells you which you have:
| Per-user install (amber shield: limited control) | Full install (green shield: full control) | |
|---|---|---|
| Installed by | Anyone - no administrator rights | Someone with administrator approval |
| Viewers see Windows security (UAC) prompts and the sign-in screen | No - the person at the computer must answer them | Yes |
| Viewers control windows running as administrator | No - they see a message saying so | Yes |
| Reachable after a restart or sign-out (unattended) | No | Yes, with an unattended password |
| Updates | You are told; you choose when | Install by themselves while the computer is idle |
| Record your own screen from the dock | Yes | No |
| Other Windows users on the computer | Each installs their own copy | Covered |
Enable full control
Click the amber shield, the blue "Enable full control" strip in the main window, or Settings → Unattended Access → Enable full control. ScreenSharePRO also offers it the first time a viewer runs into one of the limits.
- What limited control means today.
- What happens: ScreenSharePRO is installed for everyone on this computer, with its background service. Your ID and settings stay the same.
- Install full control - Windows asks for administrator approval once (someone at this computer must approve it). It takes about a minute; keep the window open. ScreenSharePRO then restarts with full control.
Note: Anyone connected is disconnected while it installs and can connect again straight after. If the administrator prompt is declined, nothing changes and you can try again any time.
Tip: If you have the full install but viewers still cannot see security prompts, open Settings → Troubleshooting and click Check components.
