Share your screen

Let someone see or control this computer

Give someone your ID and password so they can connect, keep your password safe, and make a new one at any time.

ScreenSharePRO starts sharing by itself a few seconds after it opens - you do not need to press anything. Nobody can connect without both your ID and your current password.

Give someone access

  1. Open ScreenSharePRO. Under THIS COMPUTER the status reads Sharing — ready for viewers.
  2. Click Copy ID and Password. It copies a ready-to-send message: "Here are my ScreenSharePro ID and connection password", with both.
  3. Paste it into a chat or email to the person who should connect - or read the ID and password out over the phone.
  4. When they connect, they appear in Connected viewers and a sessions dock appears at the edge of your screen.
This computer, on the left of the main window.
  1. Your ID - permanent for this computer; it is the same for every Windows user on it and stays the same after a reinstall. Click to copy.
  2. Password - 6 letters and digits (no 0/o or 1/i/l, so it is easy to read out). Click to copy.
  3. Make a new password - anyone watching is disconnected.
  4. Copy ID and Password - both as one message.
  5. Restart Host - stops sharing and starts it again (it reads Retry if sharing failed). There is no separate Stop button.

Your password

  • A new password is made every time ScreenSharePRO starts, and whenever you click the round arrow next to it. It does not expire otherwise.
  • Making a new password disconnects everyone who is watching - use it to end all access at once. The status bar confirms "New password active".
  • Someone who saved your old password can no longer connect; they get "Incorrect password".

Tip: To reach this computer yourself when nobody is there to read out the password, set a permanent unattended password - see Unattended access.

Session codes (when signed in)

If you are signed in to a ScreenSharePRO account, a short session code appears above the cards while you share. It can be given out instead of your ID - the viewer still needs your password.

The session code strip.
  1. The code, in the form 482-913. The viewer types it where the ID goes.
  2. It is valid for 30 minutes.
  3. Copy - copies the code.

Someone keeps trying wrong passwords

You get a notification "Someone is trying to join this computer". After 5 wrong passwords from the same address it is locked out for 15 minutes, and ScreenSharePRO offers to block it for longer. If you are not expecting anyone, block it and make a new password.
