What each setting on the Hosting page does
#SettingDefaultWhat it does
1 Optimize for quality / Optimize for speed Optimize for quality How much of your internet upload this computer may use to send its screen. Quality (up to 8 Mbps) gives the sharpest picture; Speed (up to 2.5 Mbps) uses less bandwidth and suits a slow or shared connection. Viewers can also pick their own quality for one session from their toolbar.
2 Monitor to share Primary monitor Which of your screens viewers see when sharing starts. While someone is connected you can switch screens from the sessions dock at any time. If the chosen monitor is unplugged, the primary one is shared. Options: Primary monitor · Display 1 (primary) — 1920×1080 · Display 2 — 2560×1440 (one entry per screen)
3 Show everyone's pointer Off Draws everyone's mouse pointer on the shared screen with a name tag - "Host" for you, the viewer's display name for each viewer, each in its own colour - so you can point things out to each other. A viewer gets the real cursor only while you are not using your mouse.
4 Show a 'sharing started' countdown Off Shows a short "Screen sharing started" 3-2-1 countdown when the first viewer joins (on this computer) or when the picture arrives (when you are the viewer). It is not part of the shared picture. Each computer has its own setting.
5 Show viewers when this computer is online On People who have saved this computer see a green (online) or grey (offline) dot next to it. Untick it and no dot is shown to anyone. Takes effect the next time sharing starts (Restart Host).

Good to know

Tip: On a slow or shared internet connection choose Optimize for speed. Viewers can still ask for more or less quality for their own session from the Quality button on their toolbar.

Note: To switch monitors during a session, use the sessions dock that appears on this computer while someone is connected - see Manage who is connected.
